Abdominal Exercises for Women

There is nothing like the whoosh of wind traveling in your hair as you zoom down the road on your bike. There’s something about using your own body strength to power yourself down the road that makes for a very satisfying feeling.

If you’re a woman over 40 who is looking for a way to lose a few extra pounds and get into great shape then try biking in your weight loss workout program for women over 40.

Earlier today I jumped on my bike and went for a healthy spin. I did it to give myself a great workout but also to come up with a few more ideas to write about. Even though I’m a guy there are many ideas about biking workouts that can apply to both male and female.

Here are a few things that I tried this morning and they can work for you too.

I always go out and change the pace of my ride. I do this by elevating the bike gear ratio and also by increasing the speed at which I ride. I usually incorporate intervals into my rides.

When I say intervals I mean that I ride a few blocks at one speed, a few blocks at a higher speed, and then sprint a few blocks at the end. You can change how many blocks you do your intervals at. That’s up to you.

When I was done with my flat land riding today I decided to climb up the first leg of a killer hill that I have in my neighborhood.

I geared the bike way down and up I went. I went up two times and during that time my heart was racing. Just what I wanted. Getting that heart rate up and your breathing to super fast gasping levels is a great way to speed up the fat burning furnace.

Remember to start any exercise program slowly and even ask your doctor if what you have in mind is safe for you.

After you get the o.k. then give biking a try and you’ll be happy that you added it to your weight loss workout program for women over 40.

As I finished my ride today I felt good. I’ve been on a mission to drop a few extra pounds as of late and the biking is helping me do that. I’m a 52 year old martial artist and fitness trainer who has also had a total hip replacement.

One of the things that I also like to do is walk but I find that I can overdue that and get really stiff and sore because of my hip replacement. My other hip will also need the surgery at some time in the future but I continue to fight the good fight and prolong it as much as I can.

I find that biking gives me a break from the pounding of walking and the additional speed element that it gives me is something that I really enjoy because I am unable to run and sprint anymore.

Biking is doing some great things for me to help me with my weight loss program and also with helping me stay in great shape. If I can do it, so can you.

Give biking a try and use it in your weight loss workout program for women over 40.

To your best health,

Fred Nicklaus

Up you go higher and faster. Moving up stairs is a great way to work your abs and your lungs. Moving uphill adds a degree of difficulty that can make the easiest movement even more beneficial.

Adding stair climbing to your weight loss workout program for women over 40 is an idea that can bring you some very nice rewards.

I’ve heard people say “I don’t know where I can go to walk stairs.” Are you kidding me?

You don’t have to have 10 flights of stairs to walk to get a good workout. Walk up and down the stairs in your house for 3-5 minutes to start and there you go.

Stair climbing not only works your lower body and tightens and strengthens your legs but it adds an additional boost to your midsection because of the added effort that the uphill motion gives you.

Moving down the stairs is not as physically taxing and gives you a chance to recover but even moving down the stairs gets you moving which is an important component for health and weight loss.

After you get going for a while on your stair climbing and incorporate it into your weight loss workout for women over 40 then you can start adding more of a degree of difficulty.

Some of the things you can do to work your abs and get your heart going even more is to start climbing two steps at a time, increase the speed at which you go up the stairs, or even run part of the way or all of the way up the stairs.

If you have a place like a football stadium in your town where the stairs are a bit taller than they might be in a house or commercial building then do some stair climbing work at the stadium.

Here are a few thoughts that you must come to grips with if you are to be successful in your weight loss program and one thought you need to banish from your head forever.

The successful thoughts are:

  • Be sure to incorporate some element of speed into your weight loss routine. Speed kills body fat and redistributes the weight that you have.
  • Change your workouts. Your body gets used to things after a short time so it’s necessary to mix it up
  • Exercise by itself is not enough to give you your best weight loss results. It’s important that you also take a look at your eating habits. Give your exercising a chance to make your weight loss a reality by eating good foods that give you strength and energy and help with the fat burning process

Here’s the thought to forever banish from your head.

“I’m getting older so I’m not able to work speed and explosion into my workouts”

Lose the thought forever because you need some kind of explosive movement in your workouts to give you the maximum fat burning potential.

So get after those stairs and start climbing them with energy and speed and you’ll get to where you want to go. Stair climbing can be an important component of your weight loss workout for women over 40.

Best,

Fred Nicklaus

Everybody has different ideas about how they like to exercise. Some people like to get on a machine and do the same thing over and over again. Some folks like something different and desire a new challenge.

The other night while flipping through the tv channels I came across an exercise machine that I thought for sure would mess up anyone’s back who used it.

This thing had you twisting from side to side while you rested on your knees. I could just see a messed up lower back waiting to happen. As I watched my biased mind thought asked why not just do one of the  abdominal exercise routines for women if you really want to get strong, functional abs.

The gal that was demonstrating the machine looked fit as a fiddle. Her abs were tight and her body looked strong. At the same time I questioned how resting on your knees and twisting for countless hours wouldn’t only mess up your back and bore you out of your tree, but more importantly how this machine could improve your overall health and fitness and really give you strong, functional abs.

Remember, marketing is not always about telling the truth, it’s about making people believe that a product can change your life. Some of these infomercial products have the marketing down to a science.

Here’s a few thoughts for anyone who is interested in fitness options that can really give you great health and also give you strong, attractive abs.

This is not some scheister marketing plan. This is real. First of all it’s important to choose and then commit to a program. This will require some time and work. You’re commitment will pay off.

Here’s another thought. Isolation is not the answer. The most effective ab exercises for women and men often times engage the entire body in movement. When exercising it’s important to make the whole body strong, not just certain body parts.

You wouldn’t want your car to have great tires and a shiny body but not be able to count on it to start because the electrical system was all messed up. That’s why it’s important to choose from one of the abdominal exercise routines for women that gets your whole body moving and working.

Here’s another thought. Spending money on a piece of costly equipment that you may use a few times and then turn into a clothes hanger doesn’t make a whole lot of long term sense.

Check out some of the body weight exercise programs because they engage the entire body. This in turn will also energize and burn any unwanted weight off of your midsection. Another important component of good body weight exercise programs for women is they develop overall strength which is vitally important in preventing and even turning around the onslaught of osteoporosis.

Also give some thought to finding something that you can do that can be done without using any equipment at all. Being able to do your workout wherever and whenever you want makes a whole lot of sense.

Think whole body movement and getting your heart going with high intensity, heart pounding , quick, explosive movement if you are thinking about chiseling your midsection. Mix in some slower controlled full body core specific exercises  that can be found in some of the abdominal exercise routines for women and you’ll find the results you’re looking for.

It’s a challenge. It seems that as women age it becomes tougher to keep that lean look. As you age your body seems to slow. Don’t let it.

I talk to many women about fitness and almost all of them want to be healthy and strong. If you’re over 40 an important first step in being a healthier, stronger you comes by choosing a weight loss workout program for women over 40.

When I said, “don’t let it”, in reference to letting your body slow as you age, I meant it. Just because you age getting older doesn’t mean that you have to give up or fall apart.

Some of the saddest conversations I have with women about fitness are those where I hear things like”

“I’m getting older, I just can’t be in the shape I was in”

“I just don’t have the time to stay in shape”

“Staying in shape is just not as important to me anymore”

“I would like to be in shape but I just don’t know what to do”

I don’t know about you but I look at all of these statements as weak excuses for someone not being their best. Just because we get older doesn’t mean that we have to give up.

Your health is a gift that requires your time and care. It’s a gift that will take care of you for an entire lifetime barring any unforeseen tragedy. Having said that it makes sense to take care of your health and be your healthy, fit best.

So what can you do to stay healthy and strong as you enter your forties? What do you need to think about in order to shed any extra weight if that has become a concern for you?

Here’s some ideas. Make a decision to stay healthy and then take action. Find a weight loss workout program for women over 40 and then work it into your schedule. Decide how often and for how long you plan to do your new workout each day.

Here are a few more things. If losing weight is one of your goals then it’s important that you choose a program that increases strength and features high intensity repetition.

It’s a fact, movement creates energy and burns fat, but speed and explosive high energy movement burns fat even better.

Here’s a quality option for you. Body weight exercises are gaining popularity among many women over 40. Body weight exercise programs improve strength which leads to weight loss and also increase bone strength which prevents osteoporosis. Body weight exercise programs also emphasize explosive training movement.

A popular body weight training program is Combat Endurance Training. The program was developed by a Special Forces captain and is helping women over 40 burn fat and improve strength and energy levels.

There are many ways for you to get into the shape that you desire. Take time to decide what you want and then get after it. Choose a weight loss workout program for women over 40 and make it a point to get into your best shape. Your effort will be worth it.

To your best health,

I get a chance to talk to quite a few women after my fitness classes and I also get emails asking questions about fitness.

I teach my fitness classes two times per week. I tell all class members that two times per week can give you a great foundation but it’s an even better idea to make sure that you do other things during the rest of the week.

Being that many of the people in my fitness classes are women I suggest that it’s a good idea to choose an at home workout program for women.

Here’s the tough part. Everyone knows that it’s a good idea to work out more than two times per week but the challenge is finding the motivation and finding the time. The thing is that you don’t have to spend 5 days per week working out for over an hour.

Taking the women in my classes for an example they do a one hour class two times per week. After that I suggest that they make it a habit to just get moving each day so that their bodies benefit from the daily movement.

From a time saving standpoint the movement that you choose in an at home workout program for women doesn’t need to be more than 10-15 minutes long. Here’s some examples of some things that you could do for 10-15 minutes.

A brisk walk, high intensity body weight exercises, walk up and down stairs, or ride a bike.  Other ideas are Pilates, yoga, uphill walking, and sprinting.  For the women in my classes I suggest that they do a shortened version of the Combat Endurance Training workout.

If your workouts are shorter then it’s a good idea to make sure that you ramp up the intensity level of the workout. The whole idea is to get your heart going and get yourself breathing hard.

If you aren’t doing any specific exercise routine or some form of workout at home it can be tough to get started. Take your time to ask friends what they are doing and even join them for one of their workouts.  Find something that you like and will stick to.

Remember that it takes about 6 weeks for your body to change on the inside so don’t feel that things aren’t working if you don’t immediately see results on the outside. Things are definitely changing. Take a closer look and you will feel a difference in strength, energy level,  and even how your clothes are fitting.

Bottom line is, taking the time to workout is good for you. Even though time can be at a premium and your obligations are piled high, it’s important to take time for yourself. Many women feel that their job is to always give. That’s o.k take some time to give to yourself. You’re important too and by taking time to give to yourself by doing some form of an at home workout program for women you will find that you can give your very best on a regular basis.

To your best health,

Fred Nicklaus

Extra weight causes stress. Worrying about how you look makes you feel uncomfortable.

What if you could be confident and comfortable no matter what clothes you wore or how much of your body was showing through from under those clothes? You can. It’s important to feel good about your weight and how you look. Here are some ideas that can help you love your body.

How to lose weight is a constant concern for many women. I’ve heard “ I want to lose weight” many times from women in my martial arts and fitness classes. Losing weight and losing weight fast rank high on the list of most important things to do for many women.

Diet and exercise are two of the things that I always tell women are essential to helping you achieve your weight loss goals. Eating right and finding one of the workouts for women to lose weight fast are great starting points for getting on the right track to losing weight.

Burn more calories than you take in and be sure to watch what kind of calories you take in. Calories taken in from a lean piece of chicken are better used and easier to take off than the same calories from a piece of double chocolate cake.

It’s important to not only watch what you eat but to also start cutting back on your portions. Stop eating before you feel full.

Taking time to eat right and not eat too much is part one of your lose weight program. Once you’ve decided upon your eating regimen then it’s time to get moving.

It’s a good idea to incorporate some form of weight training into your workout routine. Weight training tightens your body and burns fat. It’s like throwing wood into your fat burning furnace. Fuel the fire.

Weight training programs have continued to grow in popularity for women. Women enjoy the look and feel of well toned muscles and many women find it fun to show off their well sculpted “pipes” and other tighter, stronger body parts.

High on the list of workouts for women to lose weight fast are body weight exercise programs. Body weight exercise programs teach women to use their body for resistance and help them gain benefits in cardiovascular fitness, core and overall body strength, and flexibility.

Speed is also an important element of any successful weight loss program.

Speed kills. It kills extra body fat.

After you have become familiar with your exercise program it’s a good idea to speed up. Along with speeding up remember to take shorter breaks in between your exercise sets. Implementing both of these ideas will get you to your weight loss goals FAST.

Some of the most effective speed training exercises that you can add to your routine for losing weight are sprinting, hill running and walking, boxing and martial arts punching and kicking motions, and short blasts of exercise that increase your heart rate and your breathing.

After you decide on a program that can give you the results that you are looking for then be sure to be patient and give yourself some credit for the progress that you make. Choose one of the workouts for women to lose weight fast that works for you and stick to it. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Be sure to enjoy your work and effort and soon you’ll be enjoying your results.

To your best health
