Hey Fred,
Your “baby gate” talks provide excellent material for the psych class I lead each Wednesday for adults with closed-head injuries… I don’t think some of them have ever thought about actualizing their own potentials. (FYI… I am also using some concepts from psychologist Bill O’Hanlan’s “The Lazy Man’s Guide to Success.”) Your “baby gate” concept is key however, and I keep bringing them back to the questions, “Who is keeping the gate in place in front of you?” and /or “Why not step over it or remove it altogether?” They seem to “get ” the image!
The other day, one of the older men allowed as how, “This class is the only one here (at the agency) where there is NOT side conversations going on!” They all agreed and thought it was great!
Incidentally, we start and end each class with a bow (to honor the space and each other- this is ok in Boulder!), followed by four or five breathing and/or stretching exercises. Also, I have made it a rule not to let any one person, or group of persons, dominate an issue. I do this by calling on those who have not added their perspective to our class discussion.
Anyway, I certainly appreciate your “baby gate” thoughts and concepts, and the class does as well… I am unable to count on both hands the number of times that someone has exclaimed, “That is really a good question! (or thought!).” So “thank you” from the whole class! This just proves that one never really knows the effect he/she is having on others!
Thanks again!
David

Hi Fred,
I’ve been debating for the last 6 weeks about purchasing your 9 minute workout. I’ve given myself a lot of excuses on why not to buy it. I have lost weight before but always gain it back when emotional times got tough and this year has been the roughest so far. I lost my mother three weeks ago. Last night I watched all your baby gate videos and decided to step over one of my many “baby gates” and order your workout video. It was late at this point, after 11:00pm, so I told myself ” I will do it first thing in the morning!” After that thought came into my head, I realized that I was putting my “baby gate” right back up. I order it last night.
I will keep you posted on my progress.
Thanks for all that you do!
Pam
