I Can’t Wear Spandex August 6th, 2010
A few years back I asked a friend to take a look at some of the videos that I had produced. He came back and said that he liked them and that he had given the videos to his 25 year old son to look at.
The young man said that he also liked the workout but the guy who was doing the workouts was too old and needed to be wearing spandex.
Wait a minute. The guy doing the workouts was me and if you think I should be wearing spandex then ask my 17 year old daughter what she thinks.
Now that we’ve crossed that hurdle let’s share a few things that are really important.
First of all I’m 52 years old and many of the people that I’m helping to realize their healthy living goals are over 40. Our needs and desires are quite a bit different than those who are in their 20’s and 30’s.
I don’t think we’re as concerned with the perfect 6 pack abs or the proper color of spandex as we are about being healthy and strong and being able to live long, independent lives.
It’s not so much about looking good as it is about feeling good.
Taking care of ourselves gives us that chance.
As we age we take time to reflect a bit more on what we’ve experienced in our lives and what that experience has taught us.
We also realize that even though we may not be able to do some of the physical things as long and fast as we once did them, we can still do them and even learn new and better ways to stay healthy and fit.
Starting next Monday I’ll start showing you some videos that you can use to get your over 40 body and mind into great shape.
The technology is coming together and I think within another weeks time we will have the site where you can register for your F..R..E..E month of great health ideas.
Be patient. I’m working on it.

Ducks in a Row August 4th, 2010
I know. It takes me a bit longer when I have to think about ways to use technology. I know what I want to do but just don’t know how to get it done.
Even my technology guys have been unsure of some of the things that I’d like to create for you .
Let me tell you what I’m planning…
Over the almost 4 years that I’ve been sending my emails out over the Internet I’ve had people ask me many questions about health, exercise, nutrition, meditation, weight loss, and living the best life possible.
It’s exciting to know that I’ve got a good many of the answers but I’m also very interested in bringing in the experts and making them available to you to make top notch, life changing information available to you.
What I’m planning is a site where you can find out information about almost anything that trips your trigger.
The very first incentive for this site is to help those who are not working out or who are doing very little but want to be healthier and stronger.
During the first month of this new site anyone can get this information. I will break down a workout for you, what to do during the first two weeks and what to do during the next few weeks.
I will lead you by the hand so that you can get the results that you are looking for.
Every Monday I will include a new video that will give you more ideas to take you to a better level of fitness.
The first month of this site will be F..R..E..E to anyone who wants to improve their health. The other reason for offering this to you F..R..E..E during the first month is so that you can determine if it would be worth your while to be a member.
After the first month the cost will be $19 per month You can cancel your membership at anytime if you feel it isn’t worth your while.
Here’s the deal…
This can help you experience an exciting new level of health and happiness.
The other big reason for doing this is to help people become accountable for reaching their health and fitness goals.
My local Core exercises classes are filled with people who are realizing some very exciting goals. I wish that I could have everyone in my class but that can’t happen.
This can be the next best thing.
You’ll be seeing samples of the videos next week and more ideas about what I’m putting together for you so keep a sharp eye peeled.

Troubles in Bunches August 3rd, 2010
They say it comes in bunches. Trouble that is. They also say that after you’ve had your bunch that it goes away for awhile. I hope that’s so.
This past week it was my family’s turn. Trouble all around us.
My brother and father-in-law were both in the hospital for some very scary illnesses. It seems that things are getting back to normal now and I can only hope that enough is enough.
Last Tuesday I went back to Milwaukee to be with my brother and had a chance to also visit with my mom. Mom is now 91 years old and is still taking care of my brother who has special needs.
So mom and I are having a conversation and after a while she says to me ” I think I’m going to get in shape so that I can take care of your brother as well as possible.”
Wait a minute. Did I really hear what you said. I sure did. She said that she wants to get in shape at 91 years old. Now, mind you, she’s always been a walker and a very strong little gal, but she was talking about doing physical therapy and getting stronger at 91 years of age.
I just smiled. Good for you mom.
I’ve been reading a book by Deepak Chopra titled Ageless Body Timeless Mind. In the book he has sections devoted to studies of people who are well over 100 years old. Seems that the secret to their longevity and good health is staying active and eating right.
Hmm… So wait a minute. People aging well into their 100’s and healthy to boot.
I talked to mom about it and she was all for it.
I hope it works out. I really do marvel at her will and determination.

Little Things Matter August 2nd, 2010
The mistake that people, organizations, and teams often make is to always look at the big picture. Many times it’s the little things that make the most difference.
Football teams sometimes concentrate on the most difficult schemes to throw off their opponents. While scheme may be important effective blocking, tackling and taking the correct angles is the basis for consistent winning.
Individual performance at the highest levels, whatever the arena, comes down to honing skills to the sharpest level possible and then making small tweaks to guarantee success.
Sometimes the tweaks have to do with technique but often times the tweaks have to do with proper energy and attitude.
A new way of looking at an old challenge, letting the confusing situation sit for an evening without beating it to death and coming back to it the next day after a good night’s rest have proven to be effective strategies.
It’s paying attention to the details and getting the details right that makes the difference between those who struggle to get to the level of excellence desired and those who seem to find excellence that comes easy.
Excellence that looks easy comes from adhering to a system that is reliable and comfortable and has been proven to get the best results.
Many times the biggest mistakes made by individuals or teams of any sort is to throw out the proven system in favor of something newer or sexier.
Champions are champions for a reason. They stay the course and stubbornly stick to the fundamentals that work for them.
The grass is not always greener on the other side but it certainly may be a lot more frustrating and difficult to work with.
William Cornell is the chief instructor at my Karate school.
He’s gotten to the level that he’s at, national and world champion, because he has a system for training and for getting his head right for his competition.
He’s driven and he’s focused. In addition he’s willing to listen to people who can help him. In order to be a champion it’s important to get the ego out of the equation when it’s time to learn and take your game to the next level.

Big or Small July 23rd, 2010
It’s good to have goals. Having things that we can shoot for keeps us excited and keeps us moving forward.
Everyone is different with different interests and different motivations. Some of these motivations are big and some are small.
I believe that sometimes we sell ourselves short. Sometimes we ask for too little, sometimes we try not enough, and many times we are frustrated when everything is said and done. Why didn’t we want more and why didn’t we take action to get more.
The taking action is an important part to the getting more and getting more than you ever imagined.
Sometimes people act as if there is only so much to be had. Only so much pie for everyone when in reality there is unlimited pie for all of us if we only make the effort to get some.
Whether you’re shooting for smaller or bigger prizes I have something for you.
Until this Saturday until midnight you can get the single best offer to improve your health and fitness that I’ve ever given. Take your time or jump right in. Either way any one of these 4 programs included in this package will give you more than you ever dreamed of.

Ego In The Way July 22nd, 2010
we’re all human but some people seem to forget that.
Earlier today I was talking to a friend who teaches at one of the local universities. We were talking about how attitude can get people into trouble and he told me this story.
Fifteen years ago during the first week that he had been hired for his university position he was leaving a meeting and had just stepped onto the elevator with a colleague and the dean of his department.
When the elevator stopped to let them out my friend said “See you later Mark” to his colleague. The person that he was speaking to spun quickly on his heels and told my friend that from that point on my friend was to refer to him as Doctor.
You’d have to know my friend but he immediately replied “I’ll call you Doctor when you call me Master.” I’m told that this person has not spoken to him for the past 15 years.
My point is I feel for this person who expects to go through life being called Doctor. Fine if you’ve earned the title but it seems that he would be given more respect if he wore his crown with more grace and didn’t try to shove it down people’s throats.
Even sadder is the fact that this person carried this grudge along with its self defeating anger for this whole time. We do the strangest things to ourselves.
Ego can also get in the way when we need help taking ourselves to a new level of learning and fitness.
We all want to be in charge of our lives. At the same time we can’t possibly know everything. Asking for help is not a bad thing.
There is no reason for us to reinvent the wheel trying to learn everything that we do not know. We simply don’t have enough time to learn everything from scratch. Life is only so long and we need time to enjoy.
If you are in a place where you need to spend some time discovering, not inventing, a system of health that can make you healthier, happier, and able to move through your life with ease then I have just what you are looking for.
Take a look at this crazy offer that I have never done before and will never do again. I do it so that I can help you achieve your best health. All that you need is a willingness to believe and the initiative to take the step.

Dogs Day Sale July 21st, 2010
The weather seems to be changing. I’ve never seen such a rainy summer as we’ve had in La Crosse this year. It’s great for keeping everything green but it’s raising heck with the fishing.
This time of the year is often called the Dog Days among fishermen because the fish go to deeper water and it’s much tougher to find them and with this high water they’re all over the place.
So I’d like to do something to change that mojo.
I’ve decided to do something that I’ve never done before in the hope that this something different will change the climate patterns and get the fish to bitin.
Even if you’re not a fisher person you might be yearning for some kind of change in your life. How about change that involves you getting healthier and stronger by doing something that is as close to guaranteed to reach your goals as anything you’ve done to this point.
I’ve put together a video to give you the full description of what I’m talking about.
Whether you’re just beginning your exercise and healthy living lifestyle or you’re looking for more ideas to ramp up your energy level and your results you’ll want to pay attention to this GET THE FISH BITIN AGAIN/ DOG DAYS offer.
Here’s the video for this never before presented special offer http://coreexerciseslacrosse.com/dogdayssale/

Goals Done Right June 4th, 2010
There are many roads that lead to success. One of the proven ones is to take some time to write down your goals and visit them often.
That being said there’s much more to it than that. Getting clear what you want is a good first step but after you get clear on your goals it’s time to get on the road to making them happen.
The first and most obvious one is to get going in the direction of the thing that you want the most. Remember, it’s many small steps that eventually lead to victory.
The mistake that many make is to expect too much too fast and then become impatient and eventually give up.
Once the goal is clear then it’s important to add some emotion from past successes to the equation.
Everyone has experienced success at some point. It’s important to feel how good that felt and then bring that good feeling to your next project.
Give yourself a chance to allow the feeling and emotion of a past success to influence the likelihood of success with your next goal.
As you start your new project picture yourself with the goal already accomplished. Remember, your brain thinks in pictures. The clearer you make that picture the more likely it is to happen.
If your goal is in the fitness realm than get a clear picture in your mind of how that will look and feel. Remember to bring passion and emotion to it so that it keeps you fired up and moving on even through the times when it may be coming slow.

Pain to Pleasure June 3rd, 2010
It’s a fact. We all do it in every part of our lives.
We move away from pain towards pleasure. Take a moment to analyze and you’ll see that you’re no different
So why is it that some people are willing to accept pain longer and more often than others in order to reach their goals.
It must be in the way that a person is wired that gives them the ability to stay longer, hurt more, and not give up until the goal is achieved. Those that are really good at understanding this pain/pleasure principle usually look for some other pain that will improve their lives after they’ve conquered the original.
Let’s be honest. Anyone willing to grow and put him/herself out there is going to experience pain. The only way not to experience this pain is to lock oneself in a closet and never challenge ourselves. I’m sure that locking oneself in a closet has a set of pains all its own.
So let’s stick to a pain that I’m very familiar with and teach others to incorporate into their daily lives.
It’s the pain of healthy living. It includes making choices about the food we eat, the thoughts that we think, and the movement that we incorporate into our lives.
It’s hard to do it right. It’s tough to set ourselves on a path that requires discipline and continuous effort to get better.
Why bother?
It would be much easier to eat what we want, stay on the couch, and let whatever thought might enter our minds come right in.
I’m sure this isn’t the way to go.
Taking care of ourselves gives us a direction and a commitment. Continually striving to better ourselves also gives us a much higher level of self esteem and confidence.
We are in charge. It matters what we do and think. We have control over what happens to us.
Reach for your own personal power and it can be yours.
There is a value in having daily pain in our lives. It holds us accountable and it makes life worth living.
