Sometimes everything comes together at once. This past weekend was one of those times.

Often when many things come together at once there’s a mix of things you like to do and things you would rather stay away from.

My wife of 27 years has been putting up with me for quite some time. I always tell her how lucky she is but in reality I know it hasn’t always been all roses. You may find that hard to believe.

This past weekend was a special weekend because my daughter who is a senior in high school was also going to her senior prom. My how time flies. I remember chasing her around the yard making mud pies. Has she ever changed.

These first two things are examples of some of the really nice things that we wish we all could do for the rest of our lives. Spending time with our loved ones and sharing great moments.

But…

Sometimes life and responsibility gets in the way. This past weekend was also one of those times. It was high time for the Karate school to be painted and it was the weekend that would work the best with my schedule.

Hmmm…

Painting. Ranks right up there with a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Oh well. Needed to get done.

My wife was great about it. She said do what you have to do. I’m thinking after 27 years she might just want me out of her hair for a weekend.

So I got to spend some time with my wife and took a few hours off to see my daughter in her beautiful prom dress and take some pictures and off it was to some more painting.

Thank goodness for some of the students and families at the Karate school who offered to pitch in. Otherwise I would still be pushing that brush for another week or so.

The painting turned out great. After 3 full days it was finally done.

I hope that I won’t have to lift another paint brush for at least another 10 years.

Having told you about my dislike for painting it’s more important to know that the job got done and it looks great

It was worth the effort and current and future families of our Karate program will appreciate having a beautiful facility to practice their art in.

Every day we have to make the same decisions about what we would rather do and what needs to get done.

It’s good to have a balance for the many things that have to happen in our lives. Taking care of the necessary things, whether we want to or not, is essential to a fulfilled life.

Are there any things that you know you should be taking care of but are putting off to the side? Sometimes it’s best to just get it done.

An Ounce Of Prevention   January 29th, 2009

There’s a lot of things that can be prevented. All of us could sit down and take a moment to think back and find things that we wish we could have done differently. We’d want a do over to make it right.

I see things in my daily life and the lives of others around me that I think would warrant a do over. Here’s some examples:

A while back I decided to buy a 4 plex. My wife said, “don’t do it” I replied, “it’s not a problem and it will be easy.” So I went ahead and did it anyway.

It was a mess.

People didn’t pay their rent. One woman wrecked the apartment and when I finally had to have her leave I went in and took out 15 huge bags of garbage that were spread all over everything. This was with 2 little babies living in the apartment.

My wife was good about it after I learned my lesson, but I know that she wanted to give me a big TOLD YOU SO.

Live and learn. What else could I do.

Here’s a few more examples of things that qualify as do-overs:

Many people in the U.S. live a sedentary life style. They don’t exercise, eat the wrong foods, and in general don’t do anything to stay or become healthy.

End result- diabetes, heart disease, terrible energy levels, and poor quality of life.

Don’t these people know what can happen if you don’t take care of yourself. Do they think that they will get some kind of pass, a do not go to jail card. This is not Monopoly. It’s the real deal.

When all is said and done they wish they would have done it differently. They wish they had a do over card.

How about this? Many families in this country want the American dream. They want a house of their own. It’s a great goal to work towards.

They’re not financially ready to own a home because they don’t have any savings put away for a rainy day and if they would run into something bad in their lives they have nothing stored up for a rainy day.

They go out and find a lending institution who will give them a loan, even though the lender knows it’s a bad risk.

No problem…

Once the loan is made and the buyer has their home, the lender has the money and is free and clear.

Nothing to worry about because crooks like that aren’t held accountable by the law and by our government.

I’ve got my own theory about what should be done to people that take advantage of others like that.

Instead, we give them more money to screw more people that can’t afford homes but want them.

Big do over for the unfortunate person who wanted the American dream.

So what’s the lesson for today.

I believe that it’s TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially.

Be patient and wait until you have the skills and the resources to do what you want.

Watch out for greedy B——S who have no respect or dignity.

No Subsitute For Results   December 14th, 2008

Results work. People get excited when they see themselves reaching their goals.

Sometimes all it takes is a will to get up and get moving. Movement seems to be the secret to all great achievement.Movement can happen even if the person is not quite sure of what he/she wants to accomplish.

Movement forward creates a forward moving energy along with a creative mindset that brings forth possibilities that might never have been thought about.

Thursday night I held my first teleconference. We had a group of people on the call who wanted to learn more about Combat Endurance Training. Learn they did.

I had the good fortune to invite 4 of my very excited Combat Endurance Training practitioners.

The stories that they told about energy, weight loss, better health, better performance at work and in daily life, and overall feelings of accomplishment and excitement were truly inspirational to hear.

The exciting thing is that each of these people and many more Combat practitioners are making it a point to do something positive and lasting in their lives. They’re choosing to be healthy and strong. What a great choice. A choice that affects all areas of their lives.

Some people were not able to be on the call for whatever reason. My young friend, William Cornell, has gotten everything ready so that you can hear the conference

Here’s the link that you need

The really exciting thing that you will hear as you listen to these 4 people is a genuine excitement and pride in their accomplishment.

There’s just too much negative stuff going on everyday all around us. Every one needs a lift in their life. A chance to help themselves be the best that they can be mentally and physically.

Be sure to go to www.CombatEnduranceTraining.com and get yourself some of this magic Combat medicine. You deserve it.
