Goals Done Right June 4th, 2010
There are many roads that lead to success. One of the proven ones is to take some time to write down your goals and visit them often.
That being said there’s much more to it than that. Getting clear what you want is a good first step but after you get clear on your goals it’s time to get on the road to making them happen.
The first and most obvious one is to get going in the direction of the thing that you want the most. Remember, it’s many small steps that eventually lead to victory.
The mistake that many make is to expect too much too fast and then become impatient and eventually give up.
Once the goal is clear then it’s important to add some emotion from past successes to the equation.
Everyone has experienced success at some point. It’s important to feel how good that felt and then bring that good feeling to your next project.
Give yourself a chance to allow the feeling and emotion of a past success to influence the likelihood of success with your next goal.
As you start your new project picture yourself with the goal already accomplished. Remember, your brain thinks in pictures. The clearer you make that picture the more likely it is to happen.
If your goal is in the fitness realm than get a clear picture in your mind of how that will look and feel. Remember to bring passion and emotion to it so that it keeps you fired up and moving on even through the times when it may be coming slow.

Where Are You Going? June 1st, 2010
Every destination has its start and finishing point. Reaching the destination also comes with a plan.
Over time I’ve heard many people tell me about their destination. Some have wanted to become Black Belts. Some have wanted to become healthy and stronger. Some has wanted to lose weight and change their eating habits. All have wanted to live a more fulfilled life.
I’m privileged to see kids and adults who want to achieve and make themselves better physically and mentally in both my Karate school and in my fitness classes.
I’ve gotta hand it to these people. Many of them have set a goal and are doing something about reaching that goal.
Here’s a case in point.
A few months back a gentleman came to my Combat class with a goal of losing weight and changing his life. This was not a 5 or 10 lb goal. It was a much bigger goal.
He came with the realization that not only would he have to exercise but he would also have to completely change his eating regimen.
To his credit he’s been willing to do both.
He’s lost over 20 lbs and every week he’s noticing his life changing. He has more energy, feels healthier, and is proud of the progress. He’s also recording his progress in a diary that I hope to share more with you over time.
It’s a great story. It’s a story that I’ve seen replayed so many times over the past 30 plus years of helping people realize that there is a better way to live life.
Here’s what I’ve found to be the most important thing that makes people finally go for it.
It’s simple. They’re sick of living the life that they are living. They know that there is a better way and they are willing to do what is necessary to make it happen.
It takes passion, commitment, and a willingness to get through the pain because you can bet there will be pain.
My friend has a ways to go to reach his goal. I’m sure he will get there. He wants it badly enough.

The Express February 6th, 2009
Last night my wife and I watched the movie The Ernie Davis Story – The Express.
What a stud. For those who might not know the story Ernie Davis played running back for Syracuse University. He followed Jim Brown at Syracuse, quite possibly the greatest football player of all time.
The story was about Ernie growing up and his struggles at Syracuse as one of only 3 black men on the team. The world was a different place in the early 1960’s when he played.
The movie went on the show the will and determination that Ernie Davis had to go along with incredible God given talent.
I won’t go into it any further other than to say it was nice to watch a movie about a real American hero that wasn’t littered with people being killed, numerous sex scenes, and strings of foul language.
Call me old fashioned. I guess I can say that now that I’m moving on to 52.
My take on it is that there are things that always work and those will never change. Included in that list are desire, will to succeed, will to pay the price, belief in self, belief in those around you, and belief in a Creator.
Speaking of, today I came across a survey asking if I was in favor of keeping In God We Trust on our paper money.
If we can’t trust in him, who can we trust in.
It’s supposed to be in the 40’s today in La Crosse. I think I’ll put my shorts and flip flops on. Watch for my video tomorrow.
To your best. Make the plan and then start rollin,

The Deadliest Catch January 23rd, 2009
There are some truly amazing stories out there. The one you’re about to hear ranks right up there with the best of them.
A few weeks ago I announced that I would be hosting two teleconferences per month. Well it’s that time again. It’s time for you to meet my friend and one of my mentors in my Internet business, Kevin Thompson. Before I tell you about Kevin I’d like to mention a few things.
My plan is to introduce you to as many interesting people who you can listen to and learn from as possible. They’ll all be sharing information with you that can help you learn and realize your potential.
Here’s Kevin…
I’m sure that all of you have seen the T.V. show ” The Deadliest Catch“
For seven long years that’s how my friend Kevin lived his life. There were more than a few times when he wondered if he was going to make it through the day. That’s some crazy stuff.
In all of those days at sea there were only a handful of days when Kevin wasn’t absolutely terrified. It was hard work and he pushed his body to its exhausted limits everyday. Backbreaking didn’t even begin to describe that work.
Kevin worked through painful injuries. Those injuries included a separated shoulder, more muscle pulls than you can imagine, and a major injury that I’ll tell you about in just a minute.
Then…
One night his crew found themselves in the worst storm they had ever seen. Kevin was out on the deck during the storm and a rogue wave hit the boat. It threw him to the other side of the boat and threw his face up against the boat railing. The impact busted out all of his front teeth and did other damage to his face.
Fortunately for him the railing stopped him from being pitched into the freezing waters of the Bering Sea. He felt lucky that he had only lost his front teeth.
He may have been lucky to be alive but at that point he knew that there had to be a better way to make a living. From that point on, he decided to make a change.
Kevin decided that there had to be a better way to make money.
WITHOUT working so hard…
WITHOUT putting his life on the line everyday for a paycheck.
So Kevin made a switch.
He left the brutal backbreaking work in Alaska’s deadly, freezing waters and he learned how to work smarter and make a great living while hardly working at all. Quite a switch.
As you can tell Kevin’s is a great story and he can tell it much better than I can. Not only is his story of survival as an Alaska fisherman a great story, but his story about his determination and willingness to find a better way is even more compelling.
Tuesday, January 27th, Kevin is going to talk about his experiences while fishing in Alaska but he’s also going to reveal his entire Automatic Income System to you and share with you how you too can make a substantial amount of money in his “secret” business…without… actually selling anything.
Well, he does sell a product…but…it’s not really “selling” at all. His automated system does ALL the selling for him.
For the last seven years he’s quietly used this system to put 7 to 10 grand per month into his bank account.
Kevin is going to pull back the curtain and reveal how the Automatic System works… and how YOU can use it to put substantial additional income into your own back account.
You won’t want to miss this teleconference. As I mentioned to you before Kevin is one of my mentors. I’ve learned a lot from him over the past year about building my own Internet business and the things that I’ve learned are working.
It’s a great feeling to be able to help people all over the world improve their health and fitness. Without Kevin’s help and the help of my other mentors I couldn’t be doing the things I’m doing. It’s been a fun ride and a great, rewarding education.
You can get to meet Kevin for yourself by joining us on this very interesting teleconference. Go here now http://www.CashFlowShortcut.com/ to register for Tuesdays seminar. Do your best to be with us on Tuesday. I guarantee it will be worth your time.

Girl Power December 9th, 2008
Little girls have power. Some people might argue that but I’m here to tell you that they would be very wrong.
Like anything else, it’s all in what the person thinks and what they’re willing to do to get to where they want to go.
I finished this video yesterday and some of you may already have seen it. If so, watch it again and check out the determination in this little 9 year old. It’s amazing and encouraging to see a young person with such a desire to not give up. She’s a little ball of energy.
Her mom told me that a few months back her gym teacher had the kids do a push up contest in class and Jaida was mad because he stopped her after 80. You go little girl.
Hope you enjoy the video. Let me know how you like it. Send it along to friends of yours to see. I think that many could be inspired by watching Jaida’s efforts. For more ideas on how you can have the same fire to give yourself your best health make sure that you go to www.CombatEnduranceTraining.com

Something For Nothing October 29th, 2008
| There has to be a will to improve and a spirit to get there.
This past weekend I watched as some of our students tested for their first and second degree Black Belts. As always it was inspirational to see. As the ceremony started off we asked parents and significant others to come out and stand with their testers so that they could be recognized for their efforts by the audience. We do this because we know that all of the people testing for Black Belt would never get to this day without the support of their families. We even acknowledged the occasional kick in the arse that family members had to dish out to get their loved ones to this day. The testing went on and it was evident to see the hard work and determination that went into this day for these people. It was also evident to see how badly they wanted the prize. Achieving their Black Belts on Saturday was a very special goal to reach. It was also a journey that taught them much about setting goals, not giving up when things got tough, taking care of their bodies and minds, and having the courage to expect bigger and better things from themselves. After the testing I told the people that I have a fear. The fear is that there are too many people in our country who want something for nothing. Too many people who feel that they are entitled to something. It’s a bad mindset to have. It’s always better when a person is taught to fend for themselves. If we want to help those in our country who are not as fortunate then we should give them a hand up not a hand out. The Black Belt testers that I watched this weekend have much to be proud of. They will carry their experience into every walk of their life. They will know that they can be strong physically and mentally. All of them have benefited from the exercises in Combat Endurance Training. Whether you’re testing for your Black Belt or just wanting to give yourself the best fitness levels possible, you owe it to yourself to go to www.CombatEnduranceTraining.com for your energy and power boost.

P.S. I’m attaching a thought provoking email from a friend along with a cartoon. The cartoon goes for both parties and anyone who feels that people shouldn’t be asked to make better lives for themselves.

From: Mark Subject: HOW LONG DOES THE USA HAVE? This is the most interesting thing I’ve read in a long time, the sad thing about it, you can see it coming. I have always heard about this democracy countdown, it is interesting to see it in print. God help us, not that we deserve it. HOW LONG DOES THE USA HAVE? About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier; “A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.” The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From dependence back into bondage Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:
Professor Olson adds: “In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Gore’s territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare.” Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the “complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler ’s definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation’s population already having reached the “governmental dependency” phase. If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years. If you are in favor of this then delete this message if you are not then Pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom. Thanks for reading. —– Forwarded Message —- |

Taking Responsibility October 5th, 2008
| Some of you have heard this story before but it bears repeating. I started my local Combat Endurance classes in the spring of 2007. Since that time I’ve watched as many adults have taken themselves to new levels of health and strength.
On the very first day of class I was in the gym of the local grade school that we do our classes in and with about 5 minutes to go before the class started I heard this unusual clunking coming from the stairs to get down into the gym. I went over to the gym door to see what it was and was surprised to see a woman coming down the stairs with her walker. I introduced myself and she told me that her name was Karen and that she was 64 years old. She had just had knee replacement surgery and had a myriad of other medical conditions. She said that she just couldn’t take it anymore and wanted to do this exercise so she could improve her health and feel good about herself. Faith can move mountains I was glad that she was going to make the decision to try the Combat Endurance exercise program but to be perfectly honest with you, I didn’t think she was going to be able to do even a scaled down version of the program. Class started and I watched as Karen had a difficult time getting from the floor to her feet and I just didn’t believe that I would see her again. At the end of class I helped her up the stairs with walker in tow and then said good bye as she got into her van to make the 70 mile one way trip to her home. I thought to myself, now here’s a woman who is serious about becoming healthy. Willing to drive 70 miles one way and doing it because she believed that my exercise program would help her. Next class I hear the same clunking by the stairs. Karen’s back. I’m surprised, but happy she made it, and I watch her struggle through another class. Never a peep though about how bad she had it or how tough class is. All I get from her is a big smile and her absolute best effort even though it may not be the same as others in the class. It’s her best and that’s all that counts. Karen continues to come to class and I’m more and more impressed and inspired each time that I see her. There is absolutely no quit in this woman. After four weeks, eight classes, Karen pulls me off to the side after class and tells me that she didn’t use her walker today and hasn’t used it for a few days. She says that she doesn’t need it because she is feeling so much stronger. WOW. Not only that but she tells me that she has stopped taking some of the handfuls of spasticity medication that she was on for various ailments. So there you have Karen’s inspirational story of determination and going after what you want in life. Now I’d like to tell you about an interesting conversation that I had with a young lady who cut my hair yesterday. We were talking about Barack Obama being in town and I said a few things and then she came up with this gem. She said that she thinks that all of the professional sports stars and all of the Hollywood movie stars should be asked to give up one year of their salary to everyone else in the country and the whole financial mess that we now have could be solved. DOUBLE WOW So there you have it. A 64 year old woman who is willing to crawl to a fitness class because she believes that she is responsible for her own health and well being and a young, healthy person who would be ok with someone else taking care of her and footing the bill. I won’t say another word. Let’s go back to the first WOW. Everyone can and should take steps to assure that their health is at a premium. It can be as easy as committing to a program that can take as little as 9 minutes per day. Take a look for yourself by going to www.CombatEnduranceTraining.com and finding out how 9 minutes a day can rock your world and keep you coming back for more. I encourage you to learn from a wise 64 year old woman who knows what it means to give yourself a fighting chance.
