The Magic Of Momentum   August 20th, 2010

Sometimes it’s as easy as starting to move in the right direction. A few easy, forward steps can be the start of something spectacular.

This past weekend I was having a lazy day. I was reading some books and raiding the refrigerator and melting into the couch further and further with each page that I read and each mouthful of food that I took in

Somewhere in the middle of my laying around a reality check hit.

I reminded myself that if I spent the rest of the day laying around doing nothing that I would feel like a real slug and it might even bleed into the next day.

We all have these lazy days. Once in a while it’s o.k.

So I finally decided to get over it and start the move.

I got up and did one of the things that I enjoy doing the most to get out of a lazy day funk. It’s to go for a walk up the bluff.

Within the first 7 minutes my state of mind was already changed. I was happy to be out on the road and I enjoyed the sweat that was running down my forehead.

As I started to climb the bluff road I was becoming even happier that I had made the decision to get off the couch away from the grub.

After my walk I felt better physically and I went on to tackle some of my honey do list. At the end of the day I felt healthier and happier that I had made the decision to get moving.

Sometimes getting moving can be a bit harder. We know that we should be doing something but for whatever reason we decide to do nothing about it.

Our energy levels suffer. Our mood suffers. Very soon our body also starts to suffer. We don’t like what we’re doing to ourselves and we know it. We’re not kidding anyone.

Sometimes we just need help and we need ideas. We need someone that we can learn from that will make us accountable to ourselves and our goals.

I know how it can be. We’ve all gone through it.

Now there is an answer. You can find it at http://coreexerciseslacrosse.com/fitnesswithfred

The website is very basic looking but once you open up the different videos you will begin to see how this site can help you reach your goals.

Quiet Time   August 18th, 2010

Seems that every day our world gets more and more cluttered. Along with the clutter comes the noise and more frustration and confusion than we care to handle.

Those who study the skill of quieting the mind call this constant chatter, the monkey brain.

It’s important that we put the monkey to rest sometime during the day and spend a little time with ourselves in quiet.

There’s many reasons for getting to a quiet place the most basic of those being to be able to relax, unwind, and remove ourselves from the hustle and bustle.

Meditation and exercise are the two things that I have found that can help me relax to start and end a day.

There are other ways for us to unwind but it seems that the easiest, most effective, and safest are those that have to do with just spending time with ourselves doing what we need to do to recharge our batteries.

Very soon I’ll give you access to some simple meditations that will prove to be wonderful ways for you to relax and unwind.

Never meditated? Think it’s some kind of hocus pocus?

You might find it to be one of the best things that you can do to relax and restore your energy and get rid of your monkey brain.

Watch for these meditation exercises at http://coreexerciseslacrosse.com/fitnesswithfred

You Are What You Eat   August 17th, 2010

Good in, good out. Junk in, junk out.

It really is true. Our health depends on what we eat. What we eat affects our energy level and every function of our bodies.

With the food industry putting such a high premium on junk in it’s important that we take charge of what goes in.

As with anything the information and knowledge that can make us healthier is out there to find if we decide that we want it. Sometimes it’s just best if we seek some of our own answers so that we don’t have to rely on the hype of those who in some cases only want to pad their pocket books.

I’m happy to say that over the past two years I’ve gotten to meet and also recommend someone who is very knowledgeable on some great ideas for us to put into our bodies and how we can make good nutrition an important part of our healthy life style.

Dennis Muetze owns and operates Rock Solid Nutrition in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

He’s my go to guy when I need to find answers about what I should be eating to keep myself healthy. He can also be your go to guy.

Not so fast. Today I’ve got an introductory video which will give you a chance to meet Dennis and get to know some of the things that he is very knowledgeable about.

Dennis is planning to make some more videos for me covering topics such as the best foods to eat for weight loss, how eating the right carbs can actually help your weight loss, how balancing fat, carbs, and proteins can lead to your best weight and health.

These are only some of the topics that Dennis will cover and there will be many others. Dennis will be a regular contributor to my new website http://coreexerciseslacrosse.com/fitnesswithfred

Surrounded By Energy   August 17th, 2010

Energy is never too far away if we only open our eyes.

This past weekend I had an opportunity to be around an overload of energy.

It was belt graduation at our Karate school. Friday night was beginner testing which I was not able to attend because of a previous commitment, but I heard that the students who tested were really rockin.

Saturday was our Black Belt testing. We tested people for 1st and 2nd degree Black Belt.

The kids who tested for 1st degree have been in the program for 3 1/2 to 4 years. This is not something that a person just walks through and can do in a hurry. These kids and their families make a commitment to train hard and not give up when things get tough.

All of the kids who tested for their 1st degree have come a long way in skill level and in willingness to go the extra mile.

The students who tested for their second degree had to put in at least two more years from the time they tested for their 1st degree belt. So add 2 years to the 3 1/2 – 4 years that they had already put into their training and you can see these are motivated, dedicated people.

I enjoyed watching them perform their techniques but I also get a great amount of joy watching the looks on their faces and the fire in their eyes as they strive for these lofty goals.

Ask anyone of them if all of the work and effort has been worthwhile and I’m sure that you would get a 100% for sure answer.

Sometimes when people get older it’s easier to not expect as much of ourselves physically or challenge wise.

Where are you at with your present level of challenge and fitness? Are you happy or do you need some work. Have you been watching your body slowly get old and tired or have you been doing something but wanting something that could add some kick to your routine.

Either way I’ve got something F..R..E..E for you to take a look at.

Visit my new site at http://coreexerciseslacrosse.com/fitnesswithfred

It’s a chance for you to get some great ideas on how to improve your health and fitness from myself and others in the fitness, nutrition, meditation, energy, and health fields.

Be sure to take a peek at what I have waiting for you with the 2nd Week Workout.

Be Patient   August 12th, 2010

It may be the toughest thing to do as you wait for your goal to be realized but it may be the most valuable component of any success formula.

Everything takes time.

It’s when things start taking more time than a person is willing to wait that even the best and most rewarding results will never be realized.

As you’re going through the process of working towards your goal and being as patient as you can possibly be it’s also a good idea to notice the changes that are happening.

Being aware is a great little ingredient that can make it easier to be patient..

Noticing that you ARE getting closer to your ultimate goal and taking in the small improvements is an important step in staying the course.

Be sure to go to http://coreexerciseslacrosse.com/fitnesswithfred & clicking on the “Fitness Mentality” forum to see the video about patience that goes with this email.  You can also click here to go directly to the video.

You’ll be seeing more and more of these videos over the next month. All of them might contain just that little tidbit of information that gets you real excited about the new knowledge that you’ve just gained and keeps you keeping on.

Progress can’t happen without knowledge and ideas. Be sure to register for your F..R..E..E month on the new website so that you can access all of the information that I’m going to put together for you and also get your password so that you can get to all of the info.

Once you register you will also receive your 3 Bonus videos. You can Register Here

Every area on the site also has places for you to ask your questions either about a topic that is being covered in that place in the site or you can create your own question about anything that you want to know and I’ll do my best to get you your answer.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to give people on my list a chance for closer contact, accountability, and exciting results. I think we’re getting closer.

Too Sore To Move   May 13th, 2010

Have you ever tried a new workout program and did it as hard as you could on the very first day? Did you feel muscles you didn’t know you had over the next few days?

A while back I invited a friend to come to one of my local Combat classes. This person was in his early 30’s, former collegiate wrestler, current weight lifter, and very health conscious and took great care of himself.

Very strong and very healthy.

Class started and I’m watching my friend and he’s giving it all he’s got. After all that’s how he always worked out.

After class he stopped over to talk and I said that he might feel a bit sore over the next few days. He said that he was still staying quite active and after his workouts he took supplements to speed up the muscle recovery and cut down on any soreness.

He told me that he thought he was going to be fine. I told him that I hoped he was right and let me know how he felt in a few days.

Two days later I got a phone call. It was my young, athletic friend.

He said, ” I just had to call you and tell you this. My wife took me to the grocery store and I was so sore that I had to hang onto the grocery cart just to get up and down the aisles. I’ve never been so sore in my life.”

He went on to say that even though he considered himself a very fit and in shape person that my class showed him that he really was WEAK in the core of his body. He said that he was glad that he now understood the work that he had to do.

Are you interested in making your core stronger? You don’t have to be a 30 year old former wrestler in order to make your core stronger.

Anyone of any age can do it. A stronger core means effortless movement, less body aches and pain, and a stronger, more efficient body.

You can get it all with either my Intermediate or Advanced training programs.
Go here to get your copy of either program today.

Whichever one you choose you will like your results.

Little Body…Big Energy   May 12th, 2010

After my staff meeting today I was sitting in the lobby of the Karate school doing some paper work.

All of a sudden the door swung open just like one of those old swinging doors in the old classic westerns on t.v.

I looked at the door in anticipation and in comes about 4 ft. tall and all of about 50 lbs slinging this big bag full of Karate stuff. I swear the bag was as big or slightly bigger than the little guy toting it.

I told him he could crawl into the bag if he ever wanted to hide from grandpa or grandma

The little guy drags this monstrosity past me and then heard me talking to his grandparents about dance.

He pipes in and says that he wants to also do dance and baseball. Holy man, how many hours are there in the day?

No matter, this little guy has plenty of energy to fill every minute of every hour.

I tell him that if he starts dance lessons that he’ll have to use his martial arts to fight off all the girls. He chuckles and gets ready for class.

Then class starts and I watch him and his other little buddies and they are pumped up. Their movement is crisp and they all mean business. High energy level with real purpose. There’s a focus and a fire in what they do.

These little guys and gals know how to get after it.

Working with and watching kids gives me a boost of energy. I’ve been told that I’m just a big kid myself and that’s just how I like it. What a tragedy it would be if I was working with people that didn’t help me stay young.

Could it be that all of us adults could use a little more laughter, some wild eyed enthusiasm, along with as many chances to have loads of fun just like these young ones do.

There’s real value in being around these youngsters. High energy level, using our imagination, and dreaming big dreams without any limits are things that we can all benefit from.

Making A Difference   February 26th, 2010

One of my favorite musicians recently passed away. Teddy Pendergrass passed away after complications from a terrible auto accident that had left him paralyzed.
One of his songs was titled Life Is A Song Worth Singing. Great song, great meaning. Here’s a story about a woman who lived her life to the fullest and helped thousands in the process. A real life hero. Enjoy reading about her. She really deserved the award

Have a great weekend

IN MEMORIAM 64 YEARS LATER
The prize doesn’t always go to the most deserving.
Irena Sendler
There recently was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena.
During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the WarsawGhetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist.
She had an ‘ulterior motive’. She KNEW what the Nazi’s plans were for the Jews, (being German.) Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger kids).
She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.
During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. She was caught, and the Nazi’s broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely.
Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunited the family. Most had been gassed.
Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.
Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize…she was not selected.

Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming.
It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended. This email is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the six million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests  who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated with the German and Russian Peoples looking the other  way!

Now, more than ever, with Iraq , Iran , and others, claiming the Holocaust to be ‘a myth,’ it’s imperative to make sure the world never forgets, because there are others who would like to do it again.

This email is intended to reach 40 million people worldwide!

Shake My Head In Disbelief   February 25th, 2010

Sometimes you see and hear about things that just make you wonder. Over the past few days I’ve come upon some things that made me want to just shake my head and shake somebody.
Here’s a few good rants for you. See whether you agree or disagree.
As you know I’ve spent the last 32 years working with and helping children become physically and mentally stronger and achieve their potential.
I’ve gotta tell you some of these kids face some real uphill battles.
When I watch how kids interact with each other and with authority figures. I can usually tell within the first few minutes what kind of a young person he/she is. You can tell by how they treat their friends, by how they respond to authority, and whether or not they listen and pay attention when people talk to them.
All of the things I look for are practices that have been taught to them by an adult, usually a parent or parents.
It’s hard enough to be a kid. It’s important that they get good information and proper guidance. Some of these kids will struggle forever because of the downright stupid guidance they are getting.
Here’s some examples:

  1. When a child is doing something that he/she should not be doing, someone please take notice and correct it. Do not be afraid to hurt the child’s feelings. You’ll be hurting much more than that if a child is left to do whatever he/she wants until they are adults and then get absolutely crushed when the real world finally hits them over the head.
  2. If a child has a long history of not paying attention and just can’t seem to get the information right no matter how many times it’s explained, it might be time to have the child tested for some type of learning challenge. Sure none of us want to feel that our kids might have learning difficulties, but how fare is it to them if they do and we don’t take steps to help them cure the issue.

Kids do not know how to act unless they are taught. Parenting is not a spectator sport. It’s an all the time, get involved and help your kids occupation Rudeness, lack of respect, inappropriate behavior, and entitlement. All of these are things that must be nipped in the bud and not tolerated.
I feel for teachers today.
Many of these people have chosen their profession because they love kids and want to teach them things that will change their lives. It’s a big time sacrifice and the good teachers are to be commended.
So why are so many teachers frustrated and why do many choose to find other fields of work after short times on the job.
What would happen if government would mind their own business and not create ridiculous rules and paperwork for teachers to live up to. Case in point
No Child Left Behind.
Whose bright idea was this. Do you know that we are graduating kids from our high schools who can’t read? How does that qualify as not being left behind. Seems to me that beefing up our graduating statistics is more important than giving kids an education.
How about keeping lawyers off of the playground and make some laws to stop some of them from running around looking for ridiculous cases to try that only jam up our legal system and spend money foolishly
Case in point. Not so long ago I read a news story that told about one set of parents who was taking a 5 year old child to court because that 5 year old had gotten in a fist fight with theirs.
Here’s what should happen. Case comes to court. Judge hears that it’s parents and a lawyer of one 5 year old taking another 5 year old to court for a fight on the playground and judge says:
“This is too ridiculous to try and by the way you stupid parents and stupid lawyer will also be fined $xxxxx for even bringing this in front of me.”
There’s a thought. Hold someone accountable for being stupid and spreading their stupidity around the town.
We live in a strange world. It’s a world where many kids do not respect authority. It’s a world where lack of common sense is common place. It’s a world where people are restricted from doing their best jobs because there are too many dumb rules and regulations stopping them from doing what’s right. It’s a world where some people are afraid to do or say what’s right because they are afraid that they might upset someone who in turn will bring them unneeded legal pains.
The cure for all of this insanity seems simple:

  1.  Say or do something if there’s a wrong being done. Speak up. Take action
  2.  Teach kids how to do the right things by setting an example
  3. Make laws that make sense
  4. Reward creativity and resourcefulness and frown on entitlement and stupidity

It’s high time we start making sense and helping our kids and our world come back to the basics.
Common sense makes good sense even though it may not be common. We need a bunch more of it.
