Pain to Pleasure June 3rd, 2010
It’s a fact. We all do it in every part of our lives.
We move away from pain towards pleasure. Take a moment to analyze and you’ll see that you’re no different
So why is it that some people are willing to accept pain longer and more often than others in order to reach their goals.
It must be in the way that a person is wired that gives them the ability to stay longer, hurt more, and not give up until the goal is achieved. Those that are really good at understanding this pain/pleasure principle usually look for some other pain that will improve their lives after they’ve conquered the original.
Let’s be honest. Anyone willing to grow and put him/herself out there is going to experience pain. The only way not to experience this pain is to lock oneself in a closet and never challenge ourselves. I’m sure that locking oneself in a closet has a set of pains all its own.
So let’s stick to a pain that I’m very familiar with and teach others to incorporate into their daily lives.
It’s the pain of healthy living. It includes making choices about the food we eat, the thoughts that we think, and the movement that we incorporate into our lives.
It’s hard to do it right. It’s tough to set ourselves on a path that requires discipline and continuous effort to get better.
Why bother?
It would be much easier to eat what we want, stay on the couch, and let whatever thought might enter our minds come right in.
I’m sure this isn’t the way to go.
Taking care of ourselves gives us a direction and a commitment. Continually striving to better ourselves also gives us a much higher level of self esteem and confidence.
We are in charge. It matters what we do and think. We have control over what happens to us.
Reach for your own personal power and it can be yours.
There is a value in having daily pain in our lives. It holds us accountable and it makes life worth living.

My Wrists Are Killing Me September 24th, 2009
Your wrists always hurt. It hurts just to think about the wrist pain that seems to be with you at every waking moment.
It’s gotten to the point where you don’t just feel the pain when you’re awake but the pain in your wrists is now even waking you at night. So much for a good nights sleep.
Lack of sleep causes other problems in your life. You’re tired and your energy level is at an all time low. You’re not as sharp at work and your mood is testy to say the least.
It’s not your fault. Your pain is real and it’s affecting your life in a bad way.
The pain that I’m talking about is called carpal tunnel syndrome.
Best guess is that we’re seeing an increase in this ailment because of the time that people are spending on computers with their wrists at a certain angle and their fingers knocking out countless bangs on the keyboard
Some folks have gone so far as to have surgery to cure the pain. Bad move for many who have had this condition.
So what’s the answer to giving you some much needed relief from the wrist pain that is now causing pain in every area of your life.
China is a land that is over 2000 years old. There are secrets in this ancient land that haven’t been seen by the so called civilized, educated world. The problem with civilized and educated is that it always needs a logical answer. Everything isn’t logical.
Curing pain doesn’t have to make sense. The person who is suffering only needs to know that there is something that will make their pain go away. Who cares about the reason or whether he/she understands it.
If you have wrist pain that is starting to take you to your wits end then it would be worth your while to take a look at this easy and effective cure for wrist pain that could rid you of pain in a very short period of time. . It’s a simple cure that beats the heck out of surgery or some other medical procedure that isn’t needed.
Take a look for yourself at www.CarpalTunnelFix.com
If getting rid of wrist pain and starting to live pain free is something that is of interest to you then this is a place that you will want to visit.
Here’s to your wrist pain leaving forever and your sleep and your energy being restored to a healthy, happy level The choice is yours

Let Go Of Past Hurts November 12th, 2008
| No one likes change.Recently I closed one of my martial arts schools.
It was the toughest decision that I’ve had to make in my 30 plus years in the business. Families were hurt and there were many tears, but after struggling with the decision for two years it had to be done. Certainly it was something that I would rather not have had to do and I sincerely apologized for any pain that I caused. Now that I’ve made the decision, it’s time to move on and make the most of it. We can and should learn from our past and the lessons that it teaches us. We should not, however, allow our past to stop us from moving on and realizing our dreams of today and the future. Stuff happens… now what’s the plan? Years ago I listened to a t.v. announcer interview Green Bay Packers wide receiver John Jefferson. Jefferson was wearing sun glasses on a dull, overcast day in Green Bay. The announcer asked, “why do you wear sunglasses on a day when there is no sun.” Jefferson thought for a moment, smiled, and replied, “because the sun never sets on the cool.” What a great reply! Things happen… keep moving…do your best… and keep your chin up and your smile on. It serves you or no one else any purpose to wallow in your own sorrow or the sorrow of others. It’s ok to feel bad for yourself or someone else, but for only a short time. After a short pity party, do yourself and your friends a favor by moving out of the “oh poor me” mode and get on with it. The sun never sets on those who can get through tough times and keep their energy levels and attitude strong. Good things are just around the corner.
P.S. If the sun has set on your fitness program and you need some get up and go, or if you want something new and challenging to add to your current workout schedule then you owe it to yourself to get some ideas at A great workout makes for outstanding energy and attitude and you can find plenty of both at |

Carpal Tunnel October 7th, 2008
I’m in pain and it seems that this pain is becoming a more regular thing these days. This past weekend I watched as the Wisconsin Badgers fell against Ohio State, watched as the Milwaukee Brewers went mildly into the night, and finished my weekend witnessing my Green Bay Packers get pummeled at home. It has been a painful weekend but I won’t dwell on these experiences.
I would like to dwell on a pain that is more real and more serious for many people in our country and around the world. That pain is the pain that many people experience from carpal tunnel syndrome. After doing some of my own research on the web I found that those who have carpal tunnel syndrome can expect to spend $30000 in medical cost over their life times. That’s a pretty hefty chunk of change to try all the treatments, pills, and surgeries many of which may not work.
The main cures that were suggested on many of these sites were stop doing the activity that is causing the pain, take drugs, or have surgery. To my way of thinking none of these are the best method of cure especially if the activity in question is how you make a living or something that you really enjoy doing.
I guess that it’s only natural that a fitness guy is going to claim that some type of exercise or exercises can do much for those who are afflicted with carpal tunnel syndrome. So here goes my recommendation.
Over the past two years I’ve gotten to know a man who is a national collegiate wrestling champion, world kung fu champion, champion Internet marketer, and a true student of the human body and its workings. His name is Matt Furey and Matt has made it his business to teach people all over the world how to live healthier more pain free lives.
Matt spends time each year in China where he has a vacation home. During the time that he is in China he makes it a point to learn more about the fascinating culture of China. A culture that has been around for as long as the Chinese culture surely knows some things about the body and about keeping it healthy.
If you have ever struggled or are struggling with carpal tunnel syndrome you would do yourself a favor to read the email from Matt that follows or check out his site www.CarpalTunnelFix.com
You will find some true to life stories about how Matt got rid of his wrist pain and how you can find your own cure too.

Eliminate Hand and Wrist Pain NOW
10 years ago next month I was in Minneapolis at the NCAA wrestling championships.
All throughout the weekend my wrist hurt. And I didn’t know why.
I didn’t fall on it. I didn’t tweak it working out. It just hurt – for no particular reason – and the pain was driving me up a wall. Mostly because I had a lot of writing to do.
While at the tournament I met an old wrestler who showed me a simple exercise that strengthened his grip considerably.
I did the exercise as I was taught and the very same day the irritating ache went away.
The next day, however, the pain returned. So I did the exercise again – and the same thing happened. My pain went bye, bye.
The following day the pain came back once more – and by now you can probably guess what I did.
That’s right. I did the same simple exercise.
But this time the third time was a charm. The pain went away for good.
As a result of this I began teaching this simple exercise – and many others that I studied on my annual trips to my vacation home in China. And I began teaching a whole system of exercises that hit every area of the hands and wrists – mostly to those suffering with carpal tunnel syndrome or elbow pain.
What happened was truly remarkable. People who slept in braces – or wore them during the workday – were able to discard them for the first time in months.
Other people who thought they needed surgery – were able to forego it.
Quite remarkable, don’t you think.
My friend, pain in the hands and wrists is a big, big problem today – and grip training gadgets – for the most part – make the problem worse.
In China I have researched and studied the best hand exercises ever conceived – exercises from kung fu and chi kung. And none of these incredibly powerful exercises require you to use anything other than your own hands and a soft, pliable rubber device shaped like a donut – or a thick piece of string.
That’s it.
Once again, just like animals in the wild, the key to strength in your hands comes, primarily, from using your own body weight.
Other than that, all you need are the proper exercises, (those that open the meridians of the body) deep breathing and concentration. The positive effect of doing the right exercises with concentration and deep breathing is nothing less than stunning.
I have personally trained with a master who can plow through cement blocks with the inside of his finger. His fingers are so powerful you’d think each digit to be a sword. Does he use expensive gadgets to build this type of power. No. He simply does the right type of exercises with concentration and deep breathing.
More often than you realize, hand and wrist and elbow and shoulder pain stems from a blockage in chi flow. The meridians of the body are damned up with negative stress – and this negative energy won’t be released via surgery or using a bunch of mechanical devices.
The key to releasing the trapped energy is, once again, the right exercises, proper concentration and deep breathing. You get all three of the above in my course for eliminating hand, wrist, elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome pain.

pain like nothing else on the market.

Negative Energy September 30th, 2008
I’m in pain folks. This past weekend I watched as the Wisconsin Badgers squandered a 19 point halftime lead to the Michigan Wolverines and I also watched as my Packers got their behinds handed to them for a second straight weekend.
Besides these two pieces of bad news I did have some good news. The Brewers are headed back to the playoffs after a 26 year absence. Good for them. My son also came back home for the weekend to join his friends in some Octoberfest celebration. As always it was good to see him. School is going great.
This past week I tuned into the Obama/McCain debate. I listened as each candidate made their points and then eventually dug into each other and their past history seeking to make the other guy look bad in front of millions of people. It seems to me like a tremendous waste of positive energy taking the time to say bad things about someone else in the hope that it might improve your position. It never works in the long run.
I’ve heard that the political strategists are telling the candidates that negative campaigns work. In my way of thinking it’s a pretty negative way to run one’s life. It’s not like you can switch gears to run a country effectively and build commaraderie if you are so busy looking for things to tear other people down.
Whatever happens over this next few months we Americans will be asked to make a decision about who our next leader will be. At that point we have to take all of the info that we’ve been given and make the best decision that we can make about who the top dog will be.
We’re asked to make decisions every day about a variety of things. One of the most important decisions that we can make is the one about how we are going to take care of our health and fitness. Someone reminded me the other day that we are only at our best if we make decisions that are good for ourselves in order that we can be at our best to handle the challenges that we are confronted with everyday.
An analogy would be that the most powerful car can only be as good as the maintenance and gasoline that goes into it. If the car runs out of gas then it’s going no where. The same can be said of our bodies. If we take care of them with proper exercise, rest, and nutrition then our chances of being healthy and strong are very good. If we choose to do nothing about our own personal maintenance then we shouldn’t be surprised if things start breaking down.
You can change your health, fitness, and energy levels in as little as 9 minutes a day with my 9 minute Combat Endurance Training DVD. It’s an easy first step in making sure that you are taking care of your machine. Visit the Combat Endurance experience at www.CombatEnduranceTraining.com

LAST Day Today! July 31st, 2008
Last night I took my local Combat classes through their paces. It was a very hot day and easy to sweat in our non air conditioned gym. I only had one shirt along for some reason so after our workout it would have been nice to have another shirt because then I could have wrung the one out that I was wearing to get all of the sweat out.
Before classes I talked to everyone about the video shoot that we would have next Monday for the 30 minute combination Combat/Karate infomercial that we are producing. I asked the people to write some things for me about what they have experienced so that I could give the video person some ideas of what to ask each person for the shoot.
These guys should all be proud of the work that they have done. There were many great benefits listed on the papers ranging from weight loss, feeling good about myself, feel stronger, feel healthier, sleep better, and lots more energy just to name a few.
It’s encouraging for me to see the positive results that these people have gotten. They work very hard. They all took an important step when they began. That step was to trust in a program and in me to give them some exciting results. I believe that many of them did not realize what they were getting into or the results that they would find.
What all of these people have found is that they have changed the quality of their lives because of their willingness to work hard and not give up. It’s exciting to get better. It’s exciting to overcome obstacles and not give up until you achieve your goals.
As I read through the results that everyone wrote for me it struck me that even though there were some great physical results, there were an equal amount of things like feeling good, feeling positive, changes in attitude, changes in belief about what I can do physically.
The point is that anyone can change things in his/her life if only the person is willing to make an effort and stick to the plan. It may not be easy. No one in this class has had it easy. Everyone has experienced the pain of exercise. Everyone has felt that there were things that they could not do. Everyone has had to make a commitment to come to class and do this workout to the best of their abilities. Everyone agrees that their time and their efforts have been well worth it.
Making a point to be strong, healthy, and active is a worthwhile pursuit. There is both a physical and mental energy that comes from taking care of oneself. It’s an energy that projects from the individual and can be felt by others.
Take care of your health, your energy, and your belief in yourself. Make it a point to give yourself your best chance of being your best.
