Pain to Pleasure June 3rd, 2010
It’s a fact. We all do it in every part of our lives.
We move away from pain towards pleasure. Take a moment to analyze and you’ll see that you’re no different
So why is it that some people are willing to accept pain longer and more often than others in order to reach their goals.
It must be in the way that a person is wired that gives them the ability to stay longer, hurt more, and not give up until the goal is achieved. Those that are really good at understanding this pain/pleasure principle usually look for some other pain that will improve their lives after they’ve conquered the original.
Let’s be honest. Anyone willing to grow and put him/herself out there is going to experience pain. The only way not to experience this pain is to lock oneself in a closet and never challenge ourselves. I’m sure that locking oneself in a closet has a set of pains all its own.
So let’s stick to a pain that I’m very familiar with and teach others to incorporate into their daily lives.
It’s the pain of healthy living. It includes making choices about the food we eat, the thoughts that we think, and the movement that we incorporate into our lives.
It’s hard to do it right. It’s tough to set ourselves on a path that requires discipline and continuous effort to get better.
Why bother?
It would be much easier to eat what we want, stay on the couch, and let whatever thought might enter our minds come right in.
I’m sure this isn’t the way to go.
Taking care of ourselves gives us a direction and a commitment. Continually striving to better ourselves also gives us a much higher level of self esteem and confidence.
We are in charge. It matters what we do and think. We have control over what happens to us.
Reach for your own personal power and it can be yours.
There is a value in having daily pain in our lives. It holds us accountable and it makes life worth living.

Making Magic February 12th, 2009
There’s a whole boatload of magic everywhere you look. All you have to do is take a closer look.
Before we get to the magic let me sidetrack for a moment to something that’s far from being magic. It hits me in the face every time I pick up the morning newspaper, listen to the radio, or turn on the tv.
You guessed it. The sky is falling.
Don’t these boneheads who tell us these stories have anything better to do than scare the hell out of everyone. It must give them some sort of unusual pleasure to put the world on edge.
Perfect example of power used in the wrong way.
Let’s straighten a few things out.
The sky is not falling. Everything will work out. Don’t believe everything you hear and certainly don’t make it your reality even if some of it might be true.
I heard something else yesterday that really got the hair on my neck standing on end. It was the leader of the Free World saying that “government can’t do everything”
No S..t Nor do we want it to.
How about get out of my way and encourage folks to take care of and create their own lives. “Government can’t do everything” Give me a break. What if businesses were run like government. We’d all be broke and looking for a handout.
One last rant. You don’t make a bad thing good by throwing more money at it. Nuff said.
Here’s to the magic. A few instances
Tuesday night I was at my Karate school and we were taking pictures and videos of the kids all night long. You want energy. Wow. Those kids were smokin’.
Keep a sharp eye out cause we’re going to be sending lots of pictures and videos in emails and on our sites over the coming months. It’s our little way of firing up anyone who wants to be fired up.
Many of the kids we photographed last night know how to flip a switch. They can be silly and have fun one minute, just be kids, and then when asked to get after it and start performing they know just what to do. In short, they know how to work for what they want.
What they want is to get better and feel good about themselves.
We’ve got kids as young as 4 years old who are getting it. They know that it’s about their choices. Getting strong and healthy and feeling good about who they are and what they want to become has a lot to do with their vision for their lives.
I think I’ll send a few of the kids to Washington. Come on Fred. Stay on track here.
Earlier today I spent some time working with William Cornell my chief instructor who just happens to be a national and world champion. We’ll send some more videos of him working out just to give you something to get excited about.
We spent about 40 minutes mixing Combat Endurance, kicking and punching, and stretching into a very concentrated, very intense workout.
He feels and looks strong. He made a decision to be that way. He’s a great role model for the kids and adults in the Karate school and it’s no wonder that more and more of them are starting to work out like he does.
So anyway. There’s magic everywhere as long as we make it a habit to tune out the idiots who keep telling us that the sky is falling. Tough times, you bet. Some people having trouble, I understand.. Helping out those who need help, it’s a good thing to do..
No matter what the circumstances, keep pumping. Be clear about what you want and don’t let circumstances and negative people stop you from getting there.
Find your own magic. No one else will do it for you

P.S. I’m going to talk to a guy who gave up a very lucrative job to find his own magic. It’s a compelling story and he’s going to be on the phone lines tomorrow night telling us what he does to stay motivated by bringing good things into the world. He’s a tremendously gifted creator of fishing products and whether you are a fishing person or not, his story will inspire you.
Here’s the information you need to be on the call with us. Look forward to having you with us tonight.

Attitude of Gratitude August 8th, 2008
Last week I told you about my brother. Gary is 61 years old and has special needs. Every year he goes to Hayward, Wisconsin to join his friends in a program called Fishing Has No Boundaries. It’s a really great program for people with disabilities. The folks in the Hayward area go out of their way to put on a 3 day show that is great fun for all concerned.
Whenever I spend some time with my brother I always come to realize how thankful that he is for anything that anyone does for him. He always reminds me of how important it is to
Have An Attitude Of Gratitude
Last year, we were sitting on the Chippewa Flowage in Hayward and it’s started to rain and thunder. Anyone who knows anything about being out of doors knows that it’s not a good idea to be out on the water when the thunder starts. Both the guide and I decided that it was time to go in to shore and wait out the storm. I can tell that Gary is not too excited about going in and would rather stay but he goes along anyway. Fortunately the rain is over in ten minutes and we’re back at it again.
During the time that we were on shore Gary never complained even though I know that he would have rather been out on the water catching some lunkers. So there’s a lesson to learn here. He’s great at rolling with the punches. He never seems to let things get him down and just keeps on keeping on.
What about when the fish start biting? Watch out now. Both the guide and I were hooking fish for Gary. The guide was in the front of the boat and I was in the back. There were quite a few times when both of us would have a fish on and Gary would have to run from the front of the boat to the back to catch fish with two poles. Talk about a guy being in heaven. He was beaming. It’s pretty easy to be happy around a guy who is pleased with and thankful for the little things that come his way. It’s always a great lesson for me to watch my brother and see the way that he makes the most of life by making the most of everything that comes his way. He really is a pleasure and blessing to be around. Take a look at the fishing pictures to see Gary with a few of his catches.
